These tall storage tanks in the Peace River area hold a mix of oil and sand that is heated to separate the two. The bitumen can then be shipped to an upgrader.
Urban sprawl has been encroaching on the foothills around Calgary at an alarming pace and is showing no signs of letting up. This subdivision on the west of Calgary is still expanding and is seen on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003.
